Scope checkpoints
CivicLink Sourcing procurement roadmap for alternative buildings
This roadmap is a buyer sequence for alternative steel buildings. CivicLink Sourcing is an independent sourcing partner and is not the brand in the search. The page does not describe a forest program, a carbon target, or a corporate sustainability report.
The desk is not that manufacturer and does not hold a dealer appointment. Each checkpoint asks what is still open before a factory reply is accepted.
Horizontal sequence the buyer can scroll
- 01
Reference
Record the search phrase and state that the supply sought is an alternative system.
- 02
Geometry
Lock length, width, clear span, eave height, and bay spacing in feet.
- 03
Criteria
Attach wind speed, exposure, ground snow load, and seismic design category, or mark each unknown.
- 04
Scope
Choose shell, delivered, installed, or turnkey and list exclusions in that same sentence.
- 05
Evidence
Request drawings and the quality file for the quoted plant and system only.
- 06
Decision
The buyer’s engineer accepts deviations. The desk does not award the job.
Grouped checks before an alternative is accepted
| Frame | |
|---|---|
| Primary frame | Hot-rolled rigid frame, member sizes, and column reactions on the quoted revision. |
| Secondary framing | Cold-formed purlin and girt spacing, plus sag rods if the span needs them. |
| Envelope and performance | |
| Panel | Insulated metal panel thickness, coating, and thermal transmittance or R-value for that build-up. |
| Fire | Fire-resistance rating only when the jurisdiction asks, matched to the tested assembly. |
| Site and commercial | |
| Transport | Transport envelope, truck route, and crane lift plan for the heaviest piece. |
| Foundation interface | Anchor bolt plan responsibility named as factory or buyer. |
| Money basis | USD target, if any, labeled per building or whole project. No published percentage gap. |
A 60 ft clear span at a 20 ft eave height with 25 ft bays is one worked example of how to fill the frame rows. It is not a stock building.
Open choices the roadmap does not close for you
Should the building ship as a volumetric module or as panels?
Volumetric modular construction reduces field hours when the module dimensions fit the road and the crane. Panelized construction reduces the shipping cube and increases the days the frame is open to weather. Foldable units add a third path: measure both the folded transport state and the opened floor. Pick from the site constraints, not from a slogan.
Is a standard layout enough?
A standard bay is enough when doors, collateral load, and the code criteria fit the published grid. Project-specific engineering is the clearer buy when the hangar door, the crane, or the wind exposure category falls outside that grid. Ask the factory which hours are included for redraws.
What remains unverified on purpose?
Code approval, plant accreditation, price, and the week of delivery stay unverified until a named supplier answers this project. IAS AC472 and ISO 9001, if offered, must name the plant. AISC 360 and AWS D1.1, if offered, must name the work. CivicLink Sourcing will not fill those blanks from a competitor’s website.
Request a scope check
- Use, span, and eave height written in feet
- Loads with units, or an explicit unknown
- Quantity, destination, and the scope label
- Optional budget and supplier preference as buyer notes
Then return to inquiry cards or stay on this form.
